When the history of humanism is only show through the paining in the cave by the caveman or the symbol in the coffin cover by ancient Egyptian, which people nowadays perceive it as a language of early humanity. Another language we learn from history is the ruins of buildings, then what is the record that shows the history of human is it the huge sculpture cover us since then that so called architecture. And when did the development of language in the form of alphabets founded?
People knows the architecture as a representative of a book when they want to give lessens to society. The lessen of God in that time, to tell how God has created this world and create us human being on earth through the painting and sculpture on the building, and the grand scale of ceiling and Column express the scale of god that human cannot even reach by themselves. It needs to be admirable and sacred.
After the period of extreme belief of Christianity and the crusade war has gone, human had developed their language into the period of Early Renaissance, one group of people in Europe start the school of Art language College in which making painting into a book [Alphabets], which killed the Gothic period completely. This start a new phrase of language that impact the world. They developed the alphabet and have been acceptably widely use in public till nowadays that we eventually have to take an language class or even the language structural class requires in every school called GRAMMAR CLASS!
Nonetheless, The architecture still is a language, being a book but impacts a huge influences on society and politics. Though the alphabet had develops the architecture also change the way it represents itself. When finding the meaning in one building, we could extracts a hundred or thousand stories out of one, thus those stories are connect to each other like a bond or ecosystem. From scale to shape, from materials to construction, from Ornament to structure, it all says something to the viewer who has experience that space. We know it give us an experience, we determined it and create the new words call ‘Reading Space’, which is the activity we always do since of human history.
Architecture = for read.
When Architecture is a word, it is a word that must have a definition, but is it the exact meaning like an english word give us.
eg. Egg = the oval of Chicken that chicken mother gives birth to their child.
vs.
Baroque Architecture = An irrational architecture, A bending rules architecture movement, A playful and plastic form of Renaissance style architecture, so on........ blah blah blah.
It just how we perceive thing differently. The movement of Post-Modernist also claim that each person consumed different experiences which let the outcome of ‘perceiving things differently’ in each person. I think that had shapes the way architects express the language through their architecture quite exotic as you could see in Coop Himmab[l]au,
in their parametric forms, distort and challenge the feeling of stability to the strict rules of previous language, the ordered of truth forms in Modernism, or the Arete` ordered that human proportion and symmetry of human is the best.
